Memorial Boulevard, Bellevue Avenue, America’s Cup Avenue, and Lower Thames Street have a new look – and lots of second looks – as the campaign for safer streets takes to the light posts.

Newport’s Department of Public Services scaled National Grid poles and Newport fire boxes, to raise the banners of “Newport Waves” by the beach, shops, and mansions of Newport. Images of local Newporters and a lobster mascot encourage motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, skateboarders, and others to “Stop, Look, and Wave” to one another when interacting on Newport’s busy streets.
